Is Northern Ireland undergoing a shift to a more liberal, progressive politics? Would a functioning Assembly have a role to play in transforming conflict and division? Although the region has been without devolved government for more than two years, Northern Ireland remains a hive of political activity. This year has witnessed two surprising election results – suggestive of emerging centre ground politics in the region – and renewed multi-party talks aimed at reviving the Assembly and Executive. Speakers from the University of Liverpool’s Department of Politics are joined by visiting research fellow Dr Jennifer Thomson to consider the state of play in Northern Ireland politics.

Chaired by Professor Pete Shirlow (Director of the Institute of Irish Studies)

Speakers:
Dr Jennifer Thomson
Professor Jon Tonge
Dr Sean Haughey
Dr Claire Pierson
Dr Stuart Wilks-Heeg

This seminar will be followed by a wine reception.
